Jennifer’s Volunteering Story
Jennifer’s volunteering story:
“I find the greatest joy in helping others; to know that I played a part in making someone’s life easier makes my own life more satisfying.”
Jennifer always wanted to be a volunteer for Make-A-Wish Canada, and now she volunteers on wishes multiple times each year.
“In my early twenties, I came across a Make-A-Wish poster that read something like, ‘Help create life-changing wishes for children…’ and I thought how amazing it would be to be a part of something so impactful. I eagerly added my name to a very long list of potential volunteers and made it a goal of mine to one day be a part of this wonderful organization.”
When asked about her most memorable times volunteering for Make-A-Wish, Jennifer said, “One of my most cherished memories with Make-A-Wish involves connecting with a fellow helper. While seeking donors for special wish reveals, I met a woman whose high school friend had been a wish recipient. She shared how much the wish meant to her friend during treatment, and enthusiastically offered to help me as a way of paying it forward. Now, she and I work together regularly as she donates beautiful custom cakes, balloons, and stuffed animals for local wish kids. I think it’s a great example of how these wishes create ripples of kindness over the years”
Speaking from her experience volunteering here at Make-A-Wish, Jennifer couldn’t recommend it more; “Volunteering for Make-A-Wish Canada has added so much warmth, joy, appreciation and gratitude to my life; it’s an incredibly rewarding experience. I am very proud to be a part of this organization, and I just know that you’ll feel the same way if you join us.”
Jennifer is an incredible volunteer for us, and we are delighted to have her on our fantastic volunteer team.
