Chance, 5
congenital heart disease
Chance is a bright, brave 5-year-old with a heart full of kindness. Although he can be a little shy when you first meet him, once he warms up, Chance will have you laughing in no time. He has a big personality and an even bigger heart. He loves trucks, tools, construction gear and especially Hot Wheels!

At just 18 weeks in-utero, Chance was diagnosed with a complex heart condition. It was a day his parents will never forget filled with fear, sadness, and uncertainty—they didn’t know what this would mean for their baby’s future. At four months old, Chance had two open heart surgeries including a pacemaker implant. Spending so much of his early life in and out of hospitals, his family had to adjust to a new normal filled with appointments and procedures.

Even though the uncertainty was heavy, his family knew they had to stay strong for their baby, so they leaned on each other for strength. His mom, Chaadine, reflects, “We’re not the same people we were before—we’re stronger, more connected, and more grateful for the little things.” Although it’s been a painful journey, the changes have shaped them. She says, “The tough times have taught us patience, resilience, and what it really means to show up for each other.”
These days, Chance is doing great. Understandably, he isn’t a fan of hospitals or doctors, but his resilience shines through every day. He’s strong, full of life, and now a proud big brother to Loyal, who just turned one. While more surgeries lie ahead, Chance recently had the chance to focus on something positive – his wish trip! He was so excited to fly on an airplane and meet a popular mouse and his crew, along with his hospital friend who’s also a wish kid. Chance met Xavier during treatment where they became great friends and decided to go on their wish trips together. Chance’s excitement before the trip was contagious – he updated his countdown board every day.

For his family, the trip was more than a vacation. Chance’s mom Chaadine shared that the wish has had a profound impact on their family, creating a special memory they can all bond over. She says “It brought so much light and joy into our lives! It was a time where we could all be fully present and simply enjoy life as a family without the usual worries that come with medical appointments and daily routines.” It was a chance to step away from the stress, celebrate how far they’ve come, and make memories they’ll treasure forever. “This wish is healing, hope, and happiness wrapped into one unforgettable experience. It’s a reminder that there’s still so much good ahead,” Chaadine says. “Chance deserves every moment of joy.”
