When Willow was five years old, she found out she had cancer. The family’s entire life flipped upside down, having to move across the province for a duration of her treatment. Over the next 17 months, Willow underwent major abdominal surgery, stem cell transplants, immunotherapy, intense radiation, and chemotherapy.
Today at nine years old, Willow is doing great! She recently had her two year check up and is healthy! When she found out she was getting a wish granted, her excitement was practically tangible! She took her sweet time deciding what she wanted, and ultimately decided on a shopping experience! Yolanda, Willow’s mom, shared “Getting her wish was the very best way to celebrate two years of remission.”
Willow had an entire day with her family to visit some of her favourite stores and purchase some of her favourite items. Willow’s favourite moment from the day was getting to ride in a limousine, which was a surprise to her! This personalized shopping experience included games, treats, and excitement from staff members at each store. The one thing that Yolanda cherished the most, was when Willow shared how special she felt throughout the day.
Seeing the community come together to grant Willow’s wish will leave an everlasting impact on Yolanda and her family. “It is so heartwarming to see these people who have never even met us, want to make sure that Willow experienced the greatest day imaginable.”
