I wish to have my own place to play computer games
Kamahri, 9
leukemia
Kamahri, aged 9, is a curious boy passionate about technology. Following in the footsteps of his father and brother, he loves video games and spending time in front of his computer. Unfortunately, at just 2 years old, Kamahri’s life took a difficult turn when his family learned about his leukemia diagnosis. This news put Kamahri’s childhood on hold; all his hope, joy, and wonder were replaced by fear, anxiety, and isolation. He had to face heavy treatment and numerous chemotherapy sessions.
The hurricane of emotions and these highs and lows resulted in many people distancing themselves from his social circle, which left Kamahri feeling isolated. However, this situation also strengthened the precious bonds he had with those who have stayed by his side and in turn, this made them become closer than ever.
Today, Kamahri is in remission and enjoying his passion for technology to the fullest. To celebrate this victory, he is fulfilling a long-held dream: to have his own corner dedicated to video games in his bedroom.

Make-A-Wish Canada has granted 150 gaming wishes over the last two years, and we have seen firsthand the profound impact such wishes can have. Gaming has become a critical way for some of our wish children to stay connected to the world around them while navigating their illnesses.
Kids like Kamahri, who face long periods of isolation because of their condition, need connection and a renewed spark to keep their spirits high. This is exactly what gaming wishes can provide.
