I wish to go on a family beach vacation

Arthur is a true warrior, who lives with congenital heart disease and a host of complex medical needs. He loves nothing more than listening to his Dad Jorge play guitar, or going to the park to feel the wind on his face. His superpower is to make everyone smile, even on their darkest days.

At just seven years old, he has had more surgeries than most people will have in their entire lifetime, including open heart surgery. After being discharged from hospital, he went into cardiac arrest again for an unknown reason. He was brought back to life after non-stop CPR and the use of a defibrillator. Almost losing him was truly the worst moment for his family.

Despite the challenges he’s faced, he has an undeniable zest for life. Arthur is unable to verbally communicate, but his family knows what brings him the most joy – being around the water! Arthur’s wish was something positive to look forward to. Jennifer, Arthur’s mom shared, “Our whole family needed a break. Routine can be very challenging when you have a child with a disability.”

This led to his wish, and the family’s first vacation together, to go on a beach vacation with his family! Their week was filled with fun in the sun, whether in the hotel pool or at the beach.  “He laughed and smiled the entire time”, said Jennifer. Every time a wave touched his body he laughed, and the texture of sand made him laugh. He was so happy to be in the Bahamas.” She continued, “I never saw him like that before.”

Arthur’s wish came true at the perfect time, as he faces yet another open-heart surgery. Arthur is truly a miracle and in Jennifer’s words, his wish was “a dream come true!”
