From the moment Maci was born, she’s faced every challenge with courage. Diagnosed with a nervous system disorder that required immediate spinal surgery, her journey has included numerous medical procedures, including the detethering of her spinal cord. Though her diagnosis means navigating the world in a wheelchair and considering accessibility in every outing, Maci has never let that limit her imagination…or her love of hockey.
Maci’s favourite way to spend an evening is watching her favourite team play with her family. So, when it came time for her wish, everyone who knows her knew exactly what she’d ask for:
“I wish to meet my hockey heroes in Edmonton.”
With excitement bubbling over, Maci and her family travelled to Edmonton for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. They watched the team practice up close, soaked in the electric atmosphere of the rink, and best of all, Maci got to meet the entire team.
“Maci’s favourite part was when (her favourite player) waved at her while he was practicing on the ice,” said her mom, Trisha. “Thank you so incredibly much for taking my girl under your wing and giving her the best time of her life.”
For Maci, this was more than just a trip. It was a joyful escape from hospital visits, procedures, and worry, a chance to be a kid again. Her family, long-time team fans, shared excitement, pride, and joy in every moment. It was a memory they’ll treasure forever.
