I wish to meet Olaf and ride rollercoasters with my family

Logan, 7

cancer

Logan is a wish alum and now a wish ambassador! This is the story of his wish and his unbreakable spirit.

Logan’s Favourites:

  • Activities: baseball, swimming, robotics, chess
  • Hobbies: video games and reading books
  • Colour: green
  • Food: pasta and soup
  • TV show:  Pokemon

Shortly before reaching six months of age, Logan was diagnosed with a rare cancer that forms in the eye. Childhood critical illnesses can take so much from a family. All the hope, joy and wonder of childhood is replaced by fear, anxiety and isolation. A diagnosis for Logan was only the beginning as the family faced the complex journey of his life-altering illness. He now navigates life with a prosthetic left eye, cancer free.

At the age of 7, Logan got the incredible news that he was being granted a wish. His wish would symbolize the end of the tough times he and his family had gone through and create new hope and excitement for the future.

Logan’s wish was to go to a theme park in Florida to spend time with his family, meet his favourite character, Olaf, and ride rollercoasters. For the first time in a long time, Logan could just be a kid again. “Witnessing the sheer joy on my son’s face upon meeting Olaf remains the most cherished memory of all—a moment filled with pure happiness and delight,” his mom, Taline, said. When she asked him what his favourite part of his wish was, his response remained consistent: “Spending time with my family.”

Escaping to the happiest place on Earth was exactly what we all needed—a way for our family to acknowledge the immense hurdle our son conquered and to look forward to the brighter days ahead.
– Taline, Logan’s Mom

Logan’s wish was much more than a trip. Taline shared, “It was a testament to his incredible bravery and strength.” She continued, “It was a chapter in our story that will forever be etched in our hearts, a symbol of the power of love and the magic of a wish being granted.”

Now, as wish ambassadors, Logan and his family tell their story at Make-A-Wish Canada events to explain first-hand how significantly the wish journey impacted their lives. They have attended many Make-A-Wish events to “Wish It Forward”. Wish It Forward is a program that fosters a community of Make-A-Wish alumni, families, and staff who work together to support one another’s journeys and advance the goal of granting a wish for every eligible child.

Taline told us that Logan felt empowered to share their story at events and that he was deeply honoured to be a wish ambassador. “We would love to continue working with Make-A-Wish and supporting its mission,” Taline said, “thanks to everyone involved in making this event so memorable.”

Everyone at Make-A-Wish Canada is so proud of Logan, and we thank him, Taline and his whole family for their ongoing support!
