Make-A-Wish® Canada Announces Holiday Giving Initiatives
November 27, 2025
Canadians are encouraged to make a difference this December
Toronto, ON – This holiday season, Make-A-Wish Canada is launching a series of giving initiatives to help grant life-changing wishes for more than 3,700 children across the country living with a critical illness. Every two hours, a child in Canada is diagnosed, and these efforts create special opportunities for Canadians to maximize their impact and invest in health outcomes for children.
Four Times the Impact This GivingTuesday: December 1-2 Only
GivingTuesday is a global movement inspiring people to give back through charitable donations, acts of kindness, and community support. This year, from December 1–2, 2025, every donation made to Make-A-Wish Canada will be matched 4X by EB Games and other generous wish partners, turning every act of giving into four times the hope, strength, and healing for children diagnosed with critical illnesses.
Meaningful Gift-Giving: WishGifts for children
Throughout December, Canadians are encouraged to consider charitable giving as part of their holiday traditions. Donations can be made in the form of a WishGift, a meaningful alternative to traditional gift-giving that helps provide strength throughout a child’s treatment journey and brings their most heartfelt wish to life.
Beyond a donation, WishGiftsOpens in new tab offer the opportunity to choose from a list of 23 gifts that represent the impact of a granted wish. Plus, with each purchase, donors receive a complimentary e-card to send a heartfelt message to someone special, sharing the joy of giving. WishGift options include the Gift of Travel SupportOpens in new tab for $110, which provides essential support for families to travel safely, or a Gift of AdventureOpens in new tab for $80, which provides wish experiences such as becoming a superhero, princess, or anything a child imagines.
Year-End Giving: Last Chance for a 2025 Tax Receipt
Donors have until midnight on December 31, 2025 to receive a 2025 tax receipt. Between December 27–31, every donation to Make-A-Wish Canada will be matched 4X by Warehouse One and fellow wish partnersii, creating four times the hope and healing for children with critical illnesses. Year-end generosity ensures more children can experience the transformative power of a prescribed wish in the year ahead.
“Every wish we grant is a turning point for a child facing a critical illness, because Wishes Are Medicine,” said Meaghan Stovel McKnight, Chief Executive Officer, Make-A-Wish Canada. “A wish is not just a moment of joy or a nice-to-have, it’s a critical part of a child’s treatment journey, offering strength and hope for the entire family. This holiday season, every dollar raised will help us reach even more children waiting for their wish.”
